1. Program Highlights

Tianjin University of Technology’s sociology program aims to cultivate new - era sociology talents with a solid foundation, practical emphasis, and innovation - driven approach. It equips students with robust theoretical knowledge and diverse practical - teaching experiences, enhancing their innovative awareness and social responsibility. This enables them to meet the demands of digital - society development and actively contribute to social harmony and progress.

2. Program Profile

This program has admitted undergraduates since 2010. It was authorized to confer master's degrees in a secondary discipline in 2006, and in sociology as a primary discipline in 2018. In 2021, it was selected as a first-class undergraduate program construction site in Tianjin. It has made remarkable achievements in academic development, research,talent cultivation, and social services, with a focus on the Jing-Jin-Ji urban cluster development, gerontology, disability studies, and social governance.

3. Training Objectives

This program nurtures well - rounded individuals with a global vision, solid sociology - theoretical knowledge, proficient social-survey skills, and strong humanitarian and civic awareness. Graduates can engage in social research, policy evaluation, social planning, and innovation forecasting, meeting the needs of various fields such as education, research institutions, government departments, enterprises, and social organizations.

4. Core Courses

Introduction to Sociology, Introduction to Social Work, Foreign Sociological Theories, History of Chinese Social Thought, History of Western Sociology, Social Research Methods, Social Statistics, Social Psychology, Social Policy, and Community Studies.

5. Career and Further - study Prospects

Graduates mainly enter government departments, research institutions, enterprises, educational institutions, social organizations, and new-media fields, engaging in policy-making, social surveys, policy evaluation, research planning, public management, and social services.

For further study, we can pursue master’s degrees in law, education, public administration field or communication domestically or participate in international exchanges and study abroad.
